SSANIP Raises Alarm on Cost of Living and Insecurity

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) issued a communique at the conclusion of its 81st General Executive Council (GEC) meeting held in Abuja, signed by National President Comrade Philip Adebanjo Ogunsipe and National Secretary Comrade Nura Shehu Gaya. The union expressed alarm over the escalating cost of living and insecurity, highlighting that increasing prices of food, housing, healthcare, electricity, and transportation have significantly eroded workers' wages, pushing families into hardship.

SSANIP called on the Federal Government to revise its economic policies and implement measures to alleviate the burden on citizens. The union advocated for enhanced food security, support for vulnerable households, and regular wage reviews to align with inflation.

Additionally, SSANIP criticized the poor condition of roads, labeling them as dangerous and detrimental to productivity, and urged the government to rehabilitate major highways. On insecurity, the association emphasized the need for improved intelligence and welfare for security personnel, as well as strategies to combat unemployment and poverty.
