Stakeholders Unite to Combat Child Labor in Kaduna Ginger Industry

A workshop aimed at tackling child labor in the ginger industry was held in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State, organized by the Christian Rural Urban Development Association Nigeria (CRUDAN). The event brought together various stakeholders, including farmers, policymakers, and community members, to review progress and share findings on child labor issues.

Mr. Michael Agon, a program participant, highlighted the workshop's goal of training and educating communities about the dangers of child labor, which affects children's education and future potential.

The workshop underscored the urgency of local action, noting that 160 million children globally are engaged in child labor, with Sub-Saharan Africa having the highest prevalence. Participants, including Mr.

Ruth Danladi and Mr. John Bako, committed to ensuring children remain in school and pledged to eliminate child labor from the supply chain.

The need for sustained collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders was emphasized to develop a clear action plan and enforce child protection measures.
