Stakeholders Advocate Strengthening DBI Over New Telecom Academy to Bridge Skill Gap

Stakeholders at a Nigerian Communications Commission forum urged the Federal Government to strengthen the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) instead of creating a new National Telecom Academy to address skill gaps in the telecom value chain. Abraham Durosawo of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority emphasized expanding DBI's mandate and attracting new investors for sustainable growth.

Industry leaders like Tony Izuagbe and Gbenga Adebayo supported reinforcing DBI to bridge Nigeria's widening telecom skill gap. The proposal for a new academy was firmly rejected in favor of enhancing DBI's capabilities for faster results in closing the industry's skill shortage.
