Civic Group Demands End to Harassment by Imo APP Candidate

Civic Action for Democracy (CAD) has called on Chief Chima Amadi, the senatorial candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) for Imo East, to halt political intolerance and harassment of citizens questioning his actions. Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, Executive Director of CAD, made this statement during a press conference in Owerri, following a court order that restrained the Nigeria Police from arresting Collins Opuruozor, Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Electronic and Creative Media, for criticizing Amadi.
Ngoforo emphasized that CAD supports citizens whose democratic rights are threatened and condemned Amadi's attempts to intimidate Opuruozor. Justice Emeka Orafu of the Oru Judicial Division in Mgbidi granted an order preventing the Police, the Inspector General of Police, Amadi, and six others from further harassment of Opuruozor.
Ngoforo criticized Amadi for being unable to tolerate criticism while enjoying the freedom to campaign and criticize others, labeling him as dictatorial and oppressive.
