Arewa Youths Urge Respect for Walida's Human Rights

The Arewa Youth Assembly has issued a warning against the politicization of the situation involving Walida Abdulhadi Ibrahim, a 22-year-old woman whose case has sparked controversy due to claims of abduction and forced marriage linked to her family’s religious affiliations. In an interview, Walida disclosed that she was lured from Hadejia, Jigawa State, to Abuja, where she managed to escape.

However, she expressed fear regarding her safety and was reportedly kept under the protection of the Department of State Services (DSS). The Assembly criticized various interest groups for interfering in what they deemed a personal matter, asserting that it undermines Walida's rights.

Moham Salihu Danlami, the Speaker of the Assembly, emphasized that the DSS should continue to protect Walida without external pressures and noted the agency's recent dismissal of 115 staff for misconduct, reinforcing their commitment to uphold discipline and human rights.
