Union Drops Lawsuit as Nyesom Wike Assures No Worker Victimization After FCT Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, along with other labor leaders, reached a resolution to drop a lawsuit and halt further industrial action in the Federal Capital Territory after a marathon conciliatory meeting. This decision followed assurances from Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, that no worker would face victimization.

The agreement was signed by the joint union action committee, representing workers in the FCT. The circular issued directed workers to resume work immediately, emphasizing the need for industrial peace and compliance with directives.

The resolution came amidst legal and security concerns, including a court order restraining protests and intelligence reports of potential security threats. The FCT Police Command advised the union to suspend protests due to security risks.
