Amaechi Urges Suspension of Campaigns Over Insecurity

Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transport, has called on the Nigerian government to suspend ongoing election campaigns and focus urgently on tackling the escalating insecurity across the country. Speaking at a state event, Amaechi highlighted the worsening security situation, stating that the nation is facing an emergency that should take precedence over political activities.

He warned that continuing political campaigns amid rising incidents of killings and kidnappings would deepen public frustration and distrust in the government. Amaechi stressed that the safety of citizens and their properties must be prioritized, asserting that political engagement is irrelevant if the electorate does not feel secure in their own communities.

He urged the authorities to restore security immediately and to take serious action to address the growing unrest.
