SWAN Appoints Caretaker Committee for FCT Chapter

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has officially appointed a three-member caretaker committee to oversee its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter for a period of three months. This decision follows the dissolution of the previous executive committee during the FCT congress held on June 19, 2026.

The appointment was confirmed in a letter from the Secretary General of SWAN, Ikenna Okonkwo. The newly appointed committee includes Edwin Akwueh as Chairman, Tamara Ebiwei as Secretary, and Linu T.

Hagher as a member. The SWAN National Executive Committee, led by President Isaiah Benjamin, approved the formation of this caretaker committee.

During their term, the committee is expected to work alongside the congress to set up an electoral committee, SWANECO, to conduct elections for a substantive executive committee for the chapter. The former executive committee is directed to hand over all properties belonging to the association to ensure a smooth transition and continued operations.
