Rafa Mir Faces 10-Year Sentence for Sexual Assault

Rafa Mir, a 28-year-old striker currently on loan at Elche CF from Valencia CF, is facing serious legal troubles as Spanish prosecutors have requested a prison sentence of 10 years and six months for alleged sexual assault against a 21-year-old woman. The incident reportedly took place in September 2024 at Mir's home, resulting in physical injuries to the victim.

The prosecutor is seeking a nine-year sentence for the assault charge and an additional 18 months for the injuries suffered by the victim. Following his arrest shortly after the incident, the case is set to be heard in court in October 2025.

Mir has declined to testify, exercising his legal right to remain silent. The prosecution has also requested a 13-year restraining order to prevent Mir from approaching the complainant within 500 meters, along with a seven-year supervised release following any potential prison sentence.

Additionally, the case has placed Mir's career under intense scrutiny, with his parent club Sevilla FC closely monitoring developments.
