Philip Johnson Resigns from NDC Over Election Manipulation

Philip Johnson, a former governorship aspirant for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Taraba State, has officially resigned from the party. In his resignation letter addressed to the Taraba State chairman of the NDC, Johnson alleged that the governorship primary elections were manipulated against him.

He claimed that he legitimately won the primary elections conducted across the state’s 16 local government areas, but the results were altered, denying him victory. Johnson described the primary election process as peaceful and transparent, with collated results indicating his emergence as the victor.

However, he accused the party's congress panel of announcing final results that favored other aspirants, whom he claimed he had defeated. Johnson lamented that the party has abandoned principles of justice and fair democratic values, expressing disappointment that his complaints were ignored.

He stated that he can no longer continue to support a party that does not uphold these values.
