TCN and AfDB Support Livelihoods in Kano Project

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) organized a two-day sensitization program for project-affected persons (PAP) concerning the Mando Rimin Zakara 330kV quad transmission line project in Kano. The program took place at Bayero University Kano's new campus and engaged communities from Kiru, Rimin Gado, Kabo, and Tofa Local Government Areas.

The initiative aimed to support livelihood restoration by distributing agricultural support packages, which included improved maize and bean seedlings and fertilizers to enhance productivity and economic recovery among affected communities. Engr.

Ibrahim Aliyu, the General Manager of TCN's Kano region, emphasized the project's strategic importance in strengthening the grid, stabilizing, and improving electricity supply across the region. Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs, stated that beneficiaries were encouraged to effectively utilize the agricultural inputs provided and were urged to vacate the transmission line right of way to avoid risks associated with high-voltage transmission corridors.
