TCN Launches 60MVA Transformer at Damaturu Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commissioned a new 60MVA mobile power transformer at the Damaturu 132/33kV transmission substation in Yobe State. This initiative, announced by Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, aims to increase the substation's transformation capacity from 120MVA to 180MVA.

The enhancement will improve operational flexibility and reliability, providing redundancy during maintenance outages and enabling the substation to accommodate increased load demand. This project is part of TCN's ongoing initiative to generate internal revenue and strengthen the nation's transmission infrastructure, thereby improving the reliability and efficiency of bulk electricity supply to the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and its customers in Damaturu, Buni Yadi, Babangida, and the surrounding areas.
