TCN Launches 60MVA Mobile Transformer in Damaturu

On July 16, 2026, at 9:50 PM, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully commissioned a new 60MVA mobile transformer at the Damaturu 132/33kV transmission substation in Yobe State. According to Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, this new transformer boosts the substation's transformation capacity from 120MVA to 180MVA.

The upgrade is expected to enhance operational flexibility and reliability, providing redundancy during maintenance outages and enabling the substation to accommodate increased load demand. This project is part of TCN's ongoing initiative to generate internal revenue (IGR) aimed at expanding and strengthening the nation's transmission infrastructure, thereby improving the reliability and efficiency of bulk electricity supply to the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and its customers in Damaturu, Buni Yadi, Babangida, and the surrounding areas.
