TCN Completes Live-Line Maintenance on Zaria-Funtua Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) executed live-line maintenance on the Zaria–Funtua 132kV transmission line from July 4 to July 7, 2026, without causing any power disruptions. This maintenance involved the replacement of damaged glass disc insulators on select transmission towers, specifically towers T14, T17, T40, T63, T78, T175, T177, and T178.

A total of at least five damaged glass disc insulators were replaced to strengthen the integrity and reliability of the insulator string. The maintenance was carried out by TCN's live-line crew in the Kaduna region, demonstrating the company's commitment to maintaining a safe, reliable, and efficient transmission network through modern live-line maintenance techniques.

The successful completion of this exercise eliminated the need for planned outages, ensuring uninterrupted bulk power transmission throughout the operation.
