TCN Restores Alaoji–Owerri 132kV Lines for Full Power Supply

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully restored the Alaoji–Owerri 132kV transmission lines, bringing the transmission corridor back to full operation. This restoration was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by Ndidi Mbah, TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs.

The repair work on the lines was completed on June 23, 2026, with Line 1 energized at 7:05 PM and Line 2 restored at 7:06 PM. Following a trip on Tuesday, June 23, TCN's maintenance crew was mobilized to locate and repair the fault.

Line 1 was temporarily de-energized to ensure safe repairs on Line 2, which was necessary due to the close proximity of two high-voltage lines that posed safety risks. The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) coordinated with EEDC and PHEDC to ensure a safe working environment during the repairs.

With the restoration of the lines, TCN, EEDC, and PHEDC can now resume full load off-take and distribution of electricity to consumers in their franchise areas.
