TCN Addresses Collapse of Tower T99 Due to Vandalism

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the collapse of Tower T99 along the Ughelli/Benin 330kV transmission line, which was discovered during a line patrol near Coconut Village in Effurun LGA, Warri, Delta State. The incident occurred after a line trip, and upon inspection, TCN's linesman found that the tower had fallen due to vandalism, with parts of it carted away.

Adjacent towers T100 and T101 remain standing. This collapse has temporarily disrupted the evacuation of bulk power supply to Transcorp Power PLC and the national grid.

TCN has commenced mobilizing resources to facilitate the reconstruction and reinforcement of the affected transmission line as soon as possible. Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, reiterated that vandalism poses a serious threat to the stability of the nation's transmission system and urged host communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around transmission installations to the nearest TCN office.
