Terrorists Kill 18, Abduct 75 in Zamfara and Sokoto Attacks

Over the weekend, terrorists launched coordinated attacks in Zamfara and Sokoto states, resulting in the deaths of at least 18 individuals, including six soldiers. The most severe incident occurred late Saturday night in Kasuwar Daji, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara state, where armed assailants attacked a military outpost at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen overwhelmed the soldiers, leading to indiscriminate gunfire on residents and the looting of shops. More than 75 residents were abducted, with the number still being verified.

In Sokoto State, a separate attack in Lajinge village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people, including a father and his two sons, who were burned alive in their home. Survivors described scenes of panic as many fled their homes.

Former Deputy Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Namadi Kasuwar Daji, called for immediate rescue operations for the kidnapped individuals.
