Uyo Liber Movement Warns Against Zoning Breach for 2027

The Uyo Liber Movement (ULM), a socio-political organization in Akwa Ibom State, has issued a warning regarding potential changes to the zoning arrangement for the Uyo State constituency seat ahead of the 2027 elections. During a visit to Sylvanu Okon, the paramount ruler of the area, ULM emphasized the importance of maintaining the long-standing rotational political arrangement among the four clans of Uyo local government area.

This arrangement has been in place since the beginning of the fourth republic, with the assembly seat rotating among the clans every four years. The group insists that the assembly seat should cede to the Offot clan to ensure their representation in the upcoming elections.

Emmanuel Sam, the Secretary General of ULM, stated that any breach of this agreement could have dire consequences for the ruling party in the 2027 elections. The paramount ruler urged political leaders to engage in peaceful dialogue to resolve any political disagreements and avoid victimization.
