Kwankwaso: Governors Join APC Believing in Rigged Elections

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and former governor of Kano State, stated that state governors who have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are under the impression that the presidency will influence the outcomes of the 2027 general elections in their favor. In an interview with Central TV, Kwankwaso described this belief as unfortunate, indicating that politicians are increasingly disconnected from the electorate.

He asserted that many governors are motivated by desperation, believing that security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will support their interests. Kwankwaso remarked, “It is not only the governor of Kano that is in APC.

Almost all the governors are of the opinion that they should join the ruling party because they believe that the presidency will write results for them.” He expressed concern over the current political climate, where the focus appears to be on power rather than the will of the voters.
