Three Men Die from Toxic Gas in Rivers Well Incident

Three men, including two brothers, died while attempting to desilt an abandoned well in Rivers State. The incident occurred in the Aminigboko oil-producing community of Abua Odual, where residents suspect that toxic gases with an offensive odor may have emanated from the well, posing a health risk.

The owner of the well had reportedly hired the men to restore the facility. According to CSP Grace Iring Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the deaths.

The situation escalated when one of the workers entered the well and began to scream, prompting his brother and another individual to enter the well in an attempt to assist, leading to all three fatalities. The police are working to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
