Three Ex-Osun Lawmakers Resign from APC Citing Issues

On June 1, 2023, three former lawmakers from Osun State—Lekan Oyediran, Aleem Bakar, and Folorunso Oladoyin—officially resigned their membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC). In their resignation letters addressed to local government chairmen, they cited a lack of internal democracy as a primary reason for their departure.

Oyediran served in the Osun State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003, Bakar from 2003 to 2007, and Oladoyin from 2011 to 2019, with the latter also having served as a special adviser on land matters under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola until his exit from office on November 26, 2022. The resignation of these lawmakers is linked to their association with former national secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore, who has distanced himself from the APC following the party's governorship primaries in December 2025.

APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi stated that the party is not in panic mode and emphasized the freedom of association, urging remaining members to focus on future electoral success.
