Tinubu Appoints Major General Famadewa for Defence Plan

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Major General Adeyinka A. Famadewa (rtd), his Special Adviser on Homeland Security, to coordinate an 11-man committee responsible for drafting a 5-Year Defence Plan.

The committee includes key figures such as the National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa, Minister of State for Defence Alhaji Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Director-General of the Department of State Service Tosin Ajayi, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed. During a Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the need for a coherent framework to address evolving security threats.

He directed the committee to submit the National Threat Assessment and Strategic Defence Operations Plan within 90 days, which will serve as the primary framework for coordinating military and defence operations.
