Tinubu Congratulates Adeleke After Osun Election Loss

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remarked that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not sulk or interfere following the All Progressives Congress (APC) loss in the Osun State governorship election to Ademola Adeleke. Speaking at the Freedom Online 7th Annual Lecture, Sanwo-Olu noted that the election took place on August 15, where Adeleke won by over 60,000 votes.

He highlighted that Tinubu accepted the election results and congratulated Adeleke the next day, urging him to unite the state. Sanwo-Olu praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election.

He reflected on the significance of the election outcome, indicating a maturing democracy where a ruling party can lose without the democratic system collapsing. Sanwo-Olu asserted that Tinubu is committed to strengthening democracy in Nigeria and serving as an example for other African nations.
