Tinubu Reappoints Dr. Usman Abubakar as FMC Bida Director

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reappointed Dr. Usman Abubakar as the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Bida, Niger State, for a second term.

This decision was communicated in a statement issued by Mr. Arokoyo Kayod Philip, the Head of the Public Relations Unit at FMC Bida, and is based on a letter dated April 14, 2026, signed by the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr.

Iziak Adekunle Salako. The statement emphasized the need for Dr.

Abubakar to justify the federal government's confidence in him and wished him success in his tenure. His reappointment follows the successful completion of his first four-year term, during which significant improvements were made, including major infrastructure upgrades, expansion of specialist medical services, and the digitization of operations.

Dr. Abubakar, a pediatrician and former chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association's Niger State chapter, expressed gratitude for the federal government's confidence and pledged to continue enhancing healthcare services.
