Tinubu Praises Rescue of 308 Abducted Nigerians in Kwara, Niger

President Bola Tinubu expressed his approval of the successful rescue of 308 Nigerian citizens who had been abducted in separate incidents in Kwara and Niger states. The operation, which took place in the Kainji Lake National Park Forest in New Bussa Local Government Area, was executed by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) with the collaboration of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force.

This operation marked the largest simultaneous rescue effort by the joint security team. In a statement released on Wednesday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the security agencies for their bravery and effective inter-agency cooperation.

The rescued individuals are currently receiving first aid and medical care at Wawa Cantonment and will be handed over to their respective state governments for further care and family reunification. Tinubu emphasized the need to enhance national security measures to prevent future kidnappings and directed relevant agencies to improve intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities.
