Tinubu Praises Rescue of 308 Abducted Citizens in Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu commended the successful rescue of 308 Nigerian citizens who were abducted in separate incidents in Kwara and Niger states. The operation, which involved 163 victims from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State, and 145 from Niger State, was executed by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) alongside personnel from the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Police.

This operation marked the largest simultaneous rescue effort by the joint security team. In a statement released by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their bravery and collaboration.

The rescued individuals are currently receiving first aid and medical care at Wawa Cantonment and will be handed over to their respective state governments for further care and family reunification. Tinubu also stressed the importance of strengthening national security infrastructure to prevent future abductions and directed relevant stakeholders to enhance early warning systems and community intelligence gathering.
