NAIC and Ministries Collaborate to Boost Farmers' Insurance

On a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening agricultural insurance in Nigeria, Yazid Shehu Danfulani, Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), collaborated with Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, and Mr. Taiwo OYedele from the Finance Ministry.

The meeting focused on expanding insurance coverage for farmers and improving access to affordable insurance products. This initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to enhance food security and support farmers against climate change threats such as floods, droughts, pests, and diseases.

The officials emphasized the need to strengthen NAIC's institutional capacity to improve service delivery and restore confidence in agricultural insurance. They aim to attract greater private sector participation and extend protection to millions of smallholder farmers across the country, aligning with the federal government's strategy to utilize agricultural insurance as a tool for boosting investments in agriculture and enhancing farmer resilience.
