Kebbi ADC Backs Atiku's Fuel Subsidy Proposal

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has expressed support for its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, regarding his proposal to reintroduce a fuel subsidy if elected. The party believes that a transparent and accountable subsidy system could alleviate rising transportation costs and the prices of essential goods, which have been burdensome for Nigerians.

In a statement released on Sunday by Deputy Publicity Secretary Abubakar Musa, the ADC highlighted the increasing financial strain on low-income households due to escalating costs. The party argues that a corruption-free subsidy regime could significantly lower these costs.

This endorsement comes in the face of criticism from Aminullah Mustapha, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a petroleum marketer in Kebbi State, who opposes Atiku's proposal. Mustapha claims that restoring the subsidy could lead to a revival of corruption and mismanagement seen in previous subsidy regimes, alleging that funds allocated to oil marketers were often misappropriated.
