Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers in Yobe

On July 23, 2026, troops from the 233 Battalion of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, arrested five suspected kidnappers in Jegalari Village, Fune Local Government Area, Yobe State. This intelligence-led operation, conducted based on credible information, resulted in the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to be linked to the suspects' criminal activities.

The suspects are currently held in military custody, and the recovered items are retained as exhibits for further investigation into their involvement in kidnapping and related crimes. Capt.

Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East), stated that this operation reflects the military's ongoing efforts to combat insecurity in the region through sustained intelligence-driven operations.
