Troops Arrest Chadian Drug Supplier in Borno Operation

On Thursday, Nigerian military troops conducted an operation along the Maiduguri-Monguno axis in Borno State, aimed at disrupting the logistics network supporting terrorist activities in the northeast. They intercepted a suspicious vehicle traveling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of Mr.

Rachael Samuel, a 48-year-old Chadian national from Kelo Chari, Baguirmi Province, Republic of Chad. Preliminary investigations revealed that he was transporting prohibited items within the Lake Chad island area, where terrorist groups maintain hideouts.

The items recovered from the suspect included seven compressed bundles of cannabis sativa weighing 30 kilograms, two 10-liter containers of hydromercur chloride, and a carton containing 48 bottles of dry gin and 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beverages. The military seized these items, estimated to be worth millions of naira, and they are currently in military custody pending handover to appropriate law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

The military described this operation as a major breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to dismantle the logistical support for terrorist activities in the region.
