Troops Seize Illicit Drugs from Foreign National on Lake Chad

Troops from the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai successfully intercepted a suspicious vehicle on Lake Chad Island, leading to the arrest of Mr. Rachael Samuel, a 48-year-old Chadian national from Kelo Chari, Baguirmi Province, Republic of Chad. The operation, conducted along the Maiduguri-Monguno axis, was part of a broader military initiative to dismantle the logistics networks supporting terrorist activities in the region.

During the operation, troops recovered seven compressed bundles of suspected cannabis sativa weighing approximately 30 kilograms, two 10-liter containers of hydro mercur chlorid (known as "suck die"), and 61 bottles of herbal alcoholic beverages, with an estimated street value running into millions of naira. The military emphasized the importance of these operations in denying terrorist groups access to logistical supplies.

The recovered items, along with a mobile phone and ATM cards, are currently in military custody pending further investigation and prosecution.
