Troops Seize Explosives, Neutralize Terrorists in Nigeria

From February 28 to March 6, 2026, troops conducted counter-terrorism operations in Kwara and Niger states, successfully intercepting a vehicle transporting eight 50kg bags of ammonium chloride along the Eruku-Egb road in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State. The substance was confirmed through laboratory tests to be a precursor for improvised explosive devices.

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended and is currently in custody. Major General Omoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed that the troops have intensified operations targeting terrorist hideouts in forest areas along the border.

On March 1, a significant operation took place in Roguwa Forest, Patigi Local Government Area, Niger State, where clearance operations were ongoing to eliminate remaining fighters.
