Troops Rescue 48 Victims from Bandit Attack in Zamfara

In the early hours of Sunday, troops from Sector 2 responded to a distress call regarding an attack by armed terrorists on a community in Zamfara. The assailants, riding approximately 40 motorcycles, had abducted several residents and were preparing to move them into the bush.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the information officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reported that upon arrival, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to abandon all 48 kidnapped civilians and flee into the surrounding forest. Unfortunately, one civilian was killed during the attack, and two others sustained gunshot injuries, necessitating their evacuation to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for treatment.

Following the rescue operation, the troops conducted aggressive patrols in the area to prevent further attacks and maintain security. The Theatre Command of Operation FANSAN YAMMA commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, urging residents to provide timely information to support ongoing operations against terrorism in the region.
