Troops Eliminate Two Terrorists in Sokoto Operation

On August 28, 2026, troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force conducted an operation in Sokoto based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of terrorists transporting rustled cattle through the Maikujera general area. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer, reported that while advancing towards the terrorists, the troops encountered an ambush.

They responded with superior firepower, resulting in the death of two terrorists and forcing others to flee into nearby bushes. Following the firefight, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles that had been abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

The rustled cattle dispersed during the encounter, and troops are collaborating with local vigilantes to locate and recover the livestock. The area has since remained calm and stable, with troops continuing to ensure security and vigilance.
