Nigerian Army Repels ISWAP Attack in Borno State

On Monday, troops of the Nigerian Army successfully contained an attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a military location in Pulka, Gwoza local government area of Borno state. The attack occurred during ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

Despite the intensity of the assault, the troops maintained their positions and responded with sustained firepower, preventing the terrorists from breaching their defenses. The terrorists ultimately abandoned the attack and withdrew, suffering casualties.

The military's response was bolstered by timely air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which provided critical Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) coverage. This enhanced the ground troops' situational awareness and coordination.

As the terrorists attempted to escape, air assets conducted precision strikes on identified hostile elements, disrupting their withdrawal. The Civilian Joint Task Force also contributed by providing local information.

During the encounter, one soldier sustained a gunshot injury but was evacuated and is reported to be in stable condition.
