Two Arrested in Inspector Henry Effiong's Murder Case

The Imo State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Olivia Patrick (31) and ThankGod Maurice (25), in connection with the murder of Inspector Henry Effiong, who served as a security aide to Chief Rex Anunobi, the state Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment. Effiong was discovered dead at the commissioner’s residence in Owerri on Monday, shortly after the incident was reported.

Allegations suggest that he was beheaded by his assailants, who also took his service rifle. The police have initiated a manhunt for additional suspects linked to the crime.

Police Public Relations Officer DSP Henry Okoye stated that Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of the killing and ensure justice. Bosso expressed condolences to Effiong's family and emphasized the risks police officers face.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department for further investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend other suspects.
