Father Demands Justice for Son's Murder After Two Years

Two years after the death of Emmanuel Onyeomerenech, a late Air Force cadet, his father, Ephraim Onyeomerenech, is calling for justice. Emmanuel was found dead in a hotel swimming pool in Umuahia, Abia State, on April 9, 2024.

Initially reported as a drowning, an autopsy conducted on August 18, 2024, by a team led by Prof. M. Nnoli concluded that Emmanuel's death was due to poisoning, intracranial hematoma, and blunt head trauma, indicating murder.

Despite these findings, no suspects have been prosecuted, and the case has been stalled by the 82 Division Headquarters in Enugu and the Defence Headquarters, leading to accusations of a cover-up to protect those complicit in the murder. Ephraim expressed his frustration over the military's lack of action and the pain of injustice, emphasizing that the crime occurred directly opposite the government house in Umuahia.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the 82 Division and the Abia State Police Command for comments have been unsuccessful.
