UAE Enforces Alcohol Ban in Workplaces for Safety

The United Arab Emirates government has enacted a ban on alcohol consumption at all workplace premises, affecting both employers and workers as part of its workplace health and safety regulations. According to guidance from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), employers are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onto work sites or allowing others to do so.

This regulation encompasses all types of alcoholic drinks without exception. Additionally, employers are required to prevent any intoxicated individuals from entering or remaining on the premises, placing the responsibility for enforcement squarely on the employers rather than individual workers.

These measures are binding and form part of a broader framework governing health and safety standards in the UAE. Employers who fail to adhere to this alcohol prohibition may face violations under UAE labor law, which could lead to regulatory consequences.
