Uba Sani Fulfills 30-Year Promise to Olympic Gold Medalists

Governor Uba Sani has fulfilled a 30-year-old promise to the 1996 Atlanta Olympic gold medalists by granting them plots of land and naming streets after three of them from Kaduna State. This announcement was made following an inspection of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium project on Tuesday.

Daniel Amokachi, a renowned football manager and former player, expressed gratitude for the Governor's actions, stating that promises made by federal and state governments in 1996 were never fulfilled until now. Alongside Amokachi, Garba Lawal and Emmanuel Babayaro also received land.

Amokachi emphasized the significance of the gesture, highlighting that it was done without political motives. Governor Sani acknowledged the contributions of football veterans to the sport's development in Kaduna State and noted the deteriorating condition of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, which he aims to restore to FIFA standards.

The stadium is expected to be unveiled in November.
