UBEC Launches Rehabilitated Alternative High School for Girls

Dr. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), stated that no child's circumstances should impede access to quality education during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Lagos State. She highlighted that the rehabilitation, supported by UBEC through its UBE Direct Intervention, represents more than just infrastructure; it is a renewed opportunity for girls and young women whose education has been disrupted.

Garba emphasized that girls who dropped out or young mothers seeking to return to school should not be seen as lost causes. She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing education under the Renewed Hope Agenda and praised First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her commitment to empowering girls.

The rehabilitation included improvements to school infrastructure, academic facilities, and vocational equipment. Garba urged the Lagos State Government to maintain the facility and announced that a second Alternative High School for Girls in Ikorodu is nearing completion.
