UBEC Launches Training for State Officials on Education Materials

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has commenced a five-day regional workshop in Kano to train state education officials on the Book Supply Chain and Track 'N' Trace System as part of the HOPE-EDU Programme. The training aims to equip officials with skills and accountability mechanisms necessary for the transparent procurement, tracking, and distribution of teaching and learning materials to schools.

Dr Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, opened the workshop and urged states to be ready to implement Result Area One of the programme by 15 November 2026, which is critical for unlocking the first round of programme disbursement. She emphasized that the Track 'N' Trace system would ensure quality learning materials reach the appropriate schools and pupils while promoting transparency and accountability.

The training involved officials from various state Ministries of Education and focused on enhancing capacity in procurement, distribution, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as the use of key performance indicators.
