UK and Nigeria Celebrate Education Program Achievements

The United Kingdom, along with federal and state government partners, education stakeholders, teachers, and development partners, celebrated the conclusion of the Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE). This program, funded by the UK and implemented by DAI, UNICEF, Save the Children, and other consortium partners, significantly improved learning outcomes and strengthened education systems across northern Nigeria.
PLANE directly reached over 2 million children and trained more than 25,000 teachers and facilitators. The event featured Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, represented by the deputy governor, who emphasized the need for state governments to sustain the program's achievements.
He reported an increase in basic school enrollment in Kaduna State from 2.17 million in 2022 to over 2.57 million in 2025. British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Pete Vowles, highlighted the importance of partnerships in education and assured that the UK’s commitment to supporting education in Nigeria would continue beyond PLANE.
