UniJos Suspends Lectures Amid Rising Insecurity Concerns

The University of Jos has announced the suspension of academic activities amid escalating security concerns within its community. This decision was communicated in an internal memorandum signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ishaya Tanko, on Wednesday.

The suspension follows alarming incidents, including the discovery of a beheaded farmer's body on the university's farmland and the death of a student, Ibrahim Mbaya, who was allegedly beaten to death by a mob over suspected phone theft. To address these issues, a crucial meeting is scheduled for Friday, aimed at discussing general security concerns, recent unhealthy activities among students, and measures to ensure the safety of all university members.

Prof. Tanko emphasized the necessity of this meeting in light of recent events that threaten the peace and good image of the University of Jos.
