Unimaid Alumni Launch New Executive and Reform Agenda

The alumni of the University of Maiduguri inaugurated a new national executive on Saturday in Abuja, led by Baba Shettima Kukawa as President and Maimuna Abdullahi Wakawa as Vice President. This event marks a turning point for the alumni association, which has faced challenges such as member apathy and disengagement since its registration 14 years ago.

Kukawa outlined a reform agenda anchored on three pillars: unity, structure, and impact, aiming to reposition the association and coordinate a global network of alumni. The agenda includes creating a harmonized alumni database, strengthening digital engagement, and standardizing governance across chapters.

The association also plans to mobilize resources for scholarships, mentorship programs, and partnerships with industries to support the university. Prof.
