Tinubu's Security Partnership with US to Tackle Threats

The APC G3 advocacy group has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his initiative to strengthen military partnerships with the United States, aimed at addressing Nigeria's evolving security challenges. In a statement issued in Abuja, the group's coordinator, Amechi Chuk Oyema, described this move as a bold strategy necessary for enhancing cooperation and reflecting proactive leadership.

The group highlighted that threats such as terrorism, banditry, oil theft, and transnational organized crime require advanced intelligence capabilities and modern surveillance systems. They emphasized the need for special counter-terrorism training and collaboration with the United States to improve operational efficiency and boost the overall capacity of Nigeria's armed forces.

The APC G3 dismissed concerns that such partnerships undermine Nigeria's sovereignty, asserting that they instead reinforce national security architecture. They called for support for the federal government's security reforms and urged political stakeholders to adopt a national interest perspective in defense cooperation, rather than a partisan approach.
