UNIZIK and Kigali University Sign Research Partnership

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) and Kigali Independent University formalized a partnership through a virtual signing ceremony on Wednesday. The agreement aims to establish a framework for academic and research collaboration across various disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and social sciences.

The partnership, as stated by UNIZIK's Director of Information and Public Relations, Alloysiu Attah, is designed to promote scientific and cultural cooperation, encouraging joint research to address emerging societal challenges. Both institutions will organize conferences, seminars, workshops, and professional training programs, collaborate on research projects, and develop curricula.

The agreement also includes provisions for staff and student exchanges, cultural exchange programs, and joint supervision of master's and doctoral research. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) will protect intellectual property arising from joint research and allows both institutions to seek internal and external funding for collaborative activities.

The partnership will run for an initial five years, with an option to renew by mutual consent, and includes mechanisms for dispute resolution.
