UNN Sued for Peter Obi's Academic Records Release

Abayomi Arabambi has initiated legal action against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and its Vice-Chancellor in the Federal High Court in Abuja, demanding the release of Peter Obi's academic records. The lawsuit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2144/2026, was filed on September 9, 2026, through Arabambi's lawyer, Anderson Asemota.

Arabambi is requesting certified copies of records related to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy allegedly awarded to Obi in 1984, including a certificate with number D000198. He claims his request, made under the Freedom of Information Act, 2011, was initially submitted in a letter dated July 16, 2026, and received by the university on August 6.

Arabambi states that the university failed to respond within the prescribed timeframe and did not provide any formal notice regarding the refusal to release the information. He sent a reminder letter on August 31, 2026, which was received by the university on September 1, 2026, reiterating his request for the academic records and related documents.
