LP Chieftain Sues UNN for Peter Obi's Academic Records

Abayomi Arabambi, a chieftain of the Labour Party and former factional spokesperson, has initiated legal action against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) for not releasing the academic records of Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress. The lawsuit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2144/2026, was filed on September 9, 2026, by Arabambi's lawyer, Anderson Asemota, in the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Arabambi seeks a court order compelling UNN to provide certified true copies of documents related to Obi's Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, allegedly awarded in 1984. He claims his request, made under the Freedom of Information (FoI) Act on July 16, 2026, was ignored, and the university failed to issue a lawful written refusal.

Arabambi sent a reminder on August 31, 2026, but received no response. He is seeking 19 reliefs from the court, including a declaration that his request was valid under the FoI Act.
