Governor Oborevwori Urges Newly Appointed Judges to Uphold Highest Standards of Probity and Fairness

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori emphasized the importance of probity and fairness to the six newly appointed judges during their swearing-in ceremony at the Delta State High Court and Customary Court of Appeal in Asaba. He cautioned the judges to resist temptations that could compromise judicial independence, as it could erode public confidence in the judiciary.

The appointments were made in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution, empowering the state governor to appoint judges based on recommendations from the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Delta State Judiciary Service Commission. The governor highlighted the need for a transparent and independent judiciary to maintain public trust and ensure justice.

The newly sworn judges pledged to uphold high ethical standards and work towards efficient justice delivery to decongest courts and reduce delays.
