US Approves $346m Arms, Ammunition Sale To Nigeria

The United States has approved a $346 million arms and ammunition sale to Nigeria, including precision bombs, rockets, and other defense equipment. The deal, certified by Congress following State Department approval, involves contractors like Lockheed Martin, RTX Missiles Defense, and BAE Systems.

The package includes 500 lb bombs, Air Foil Groups, Paveway II bombs, computer control groups, and Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II rounds. The sale aims to strengthen Nigeria's ability to counter current and future threats, particularly in combating terrorist organizations and curbing illicit trafficking in the Gulf of Guinea.

The Nigerian government requested various munitions and equipment, with the proposed sale also including technical engineering services and logistical support. The sale is part of the US's foreign policy and national security objectives to enhance security in Africa and improve Nigeria's defense capabilities.
